Exploration Model
The discovery of mineral deposits is based on probability and a key part of Auzex's strategy is to use modern statistical techniques applied to state of the art ore deposit models to increase the chances of discovery in the most efficient way.
Auzex is convinced that its exploration model delivers value to shareholders and through the use of new spatial data modelling techniques has identified those areas with the best chances of exploration success. This has shortened the exploration cycle and reduced the cost of future discovery and assessment.
New Ways of Exploring for Ore Deposits
Auzex is committed to using new technologies to help us in our exploration effort. Tools such as digital field mapping systems through to sophisticated data management and modeling techniques are helping us reduce our costs and increasing our chances of success. For example in the field we are able to capture geological data digitally, allowing us to integrate new data with data already in our database and make immediate decisions on the prospectivity of areas in the field. New GPS technologies allow us to accurately collect samples in the field without the need for expensive surveyed gridding exersices, reducing costs and speeding up the data collection process, while reducing our impact on the environment.
A variety of new technology tools are also available for use in computer aided geographic data management systems or Geographic Information Systems (GIS) for managing and evaluating the distribution of spatial data in a statistical framework. Weights of Evidence is a Bayesian statistical approach used by Auzex that allows the analysis and combination of data to predict the occurrence of events. The technique was initially developed as a diagnostic tool in medicine, but has successfully been used for mineral exploration.
The discovery of mineral resources is based on probability and for any company to be successful at the exploration end of the value chain it has to be able to efficiently integrate and assess large volumes of data including mineral occurrence data, geology and geochemistry to increase the probability of success. Effective targeting can only be done if all relevant data are compiled and integrated in a way that matches the ore deposit model being used and combined into a single mineral potential map.
We believe that by using new technologies we can add the greatest value to Auzex and increase the probability of discovery in the most efficient and effective way.
